Module 3 | Overview

Watch the video to see a demonstration on how to compare and contrast sentences to see how they are similar or different when it comes to the use of figurative language. Then, practice this skill.

Compare and Contrast

#1: My dad is a bear in the morning.

#2: The sun painted the morning sky with golds and oranges.

How to review these sentences?

Read the first sentence, and identify the type of figurative language. Then, look at the second sentence, and identify the type of figurative language.

Answer for this example?

These sentences are different because #1 is a metaphor, comparing the dad and a bear. Yet #2 is an example of personification, which includes the sun becoming a person that paints.
