It doesn't cost anything to have a conversation, and I always answer with a smile!
Simple explanations for complicated issues, in 2024? Nothing in the world of IT is simple, but that doesn't mean you have to figure it out yourself! I have experience with a wide array of technologies, and can write customized apps to fit a variety of needs.
I love to pass the time fiddling with my programming projects, playing video games, spending time out and about with the kiddos, playing music (though I'll admit my piano's gotten rusty!), cooking, and watching any show that Kass acquires an interest in!
My beautiful, incredible wife. She works in software support for a veterinary prescription company, and is the backbone of our household. Couldn't do it without her!
My oldest son loves gaming, and he loves to learn anything and everything. He is a great deal like me - happiest when buried behind a screen - although now that he's in high school band he's expanding his interests a great deal.
My second oldest is brilliant and a joy - he loves to read, he picks up videogames as fast as his brother does, and he is eternally kind and gentle.
We wanted a little girl, to offset the testosterone that was overwhelming the house. Well, we got our girl - but she brought along a bonus boy!
Born two days after Christmas 2019, Freya is the wiggliest doggo this side of the Mississippi and loves meeting new people!
Yes, your local IT professional had roots as a teenager as a certified Pizza Artiste! I worked overtime to fund a PC that I struggled to build, and was an avid World of Warcraft fanatic for far longer than I'd like to admit.
04/2007-12/2008I was a Porter at Crown, which consisted of detailing cars, sweeping a rocky parking lot, and more pressure washing than you can shake a stick at! After a few months, I tried a Sales role, but found that Used Car Sales is not my forte - I do not enjoy that type of environment. I eventually was promoted to working in the Parts department, where I worked in Shipping/Receiving primarily, and then additionally as a Parts attendant.
06/2010-10/2010I began working at Frac Tech when my wife was pregnant with my first son. I started by working in the heavy equipment shop, repairing the Fluid Ends of frac pumps in preparation for field service. After my first few months and the birth of my son, I started working out in the field, performing the same type of mechanic work, but as a part of the frac crews.
10/2010-07/2011My best friend convinced me to apply for a job at Letourneau, the draw being that it was a 'Home Every Night' type of job when I had a young child at home. This job was in a steel mill, and consisted of operating an oxy-acetylene torch-cutting CAM machine to cut between 1"-16" steel plates, in the summer of "100 days of over 100 degrees". I had a piece of slag break away beneath my feet one night at 2AM, while working a fourteen hour shift, and fell hand-first on a hot plate that left 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree burns over 96% of my palm. I was releived of duty a few weeks later, and was stuck with the hospital bill by the company. Overall, a lovely experience here.
07/2011-09/2011I began working at Performance in October 2011 as a "Grease hand", which is exactly what it sounds like. By the end of 2012 and after the birth of my second son, I had worked through every position in our shop and had become the Lead Mechanic, managing every stage of repair, hydrostatic testing, painting, Quality Control, and Shipping/Receiving that we processed. A year later, I was working as a third party frac service technician, invoicing customers onsite for valve repair/maintenance, and managing every aspect of my team's field service work.
10/2011-01/2014I was a founding member at Tri-State, helping to go from a 'blank slate' shop that we installed air supply and pressure washers in, to a fully functioning wellhead and valve repair company. I spent the first six months helping to build infrastructure in the company, and then worked as a field service technician for both hydrofrac operations and wellhead installation for the remainder of my tenure.
03/2014-08/2015This is my father's automotive shop, and on top of helping with day-to-day Repair work, I helped to manage invoicing for him for his biggest accounts, yearly tax processing, and evaluations of his income and expenses for reporting and budgeting. My mother, a 25-year Controller, helped to teach me the accounting aspects, while my father allowed me to work in his shop during times of unemployment or low income, so that I could afford to feed my growing family.
12/2016-02/2021I was hired to be a counter salesman here. After a few months of retail sales, I also began to work as an outside salesman, cold calling lists of contacts to attempt to sell their businesses batteries. I was relatively successful, but found the work unenjoyable, and the pay had to be supplemented with income from my father's shop on the weekends and evenings, so I quickly began looking for new employment.
03/2016-12/2016Moore Supply is a subsidiary of Hajoca corporation, a global plumbing supply business, and I began working as a delivery driver there for the local Branch. I also performed shipping and receiving duties after my first few months, while still performing any necessary deliveries. I worked in the warehouse primarily, but had ample opportunity to built a rapport with the customer base.
12/2016-08/2018The owner of Prosperity, Wade Frazier, reached out to me on LinkedIn after I had listed my resume, and took a chance on me - hiring me to be an entry-level Software Support Specialist for an on-premise ERP solution. I knew precious little when I began, admittedly - but on day one, as soon as things got busy I took three calls and was even able to help one of those customers resolve their issue without asking any other agents for help! I quickly grew into a reliable 'answer man' for our support team, both as a liaison from the development team and as a customer advocate. I learned the underlying structures of the software, how to work with SQL databases and printers shared from a server, and I even spent more than two non-consecutive months of employment as an Implementations Specialist, working onsite at our various customer's sites, 'bringing them live' from their old software and onto ours, just before we began to Work From Home during the onset of COVID. In this role I developed a knack for communicating effectively with Leadership teams, as well as a working knowledge of GAAP accounting best practices that I have used to help countless customers find and correct problems with their GL, software, and data.
08/2018-06/2020Prosperity was acquired in May/June of 2020, shortly after we began working from home, and I began work as a Level 1 Product Support Specialist - working with a new company, but largely the same customer base. For the first time, I was being judged by corporate KPIs - and proved to be particularly successful. My CSAT was steadily between 96-100%, and my productivity monthly KPIs averaged between 128-146% of my peers'. I underwent a brief training period in February 2021 to learn the Spruce software, and by March I was still had some of the highest case closure rates of any software support technician across the Division's teams. Working with the Spruce software introduced me to a SaaS Hosted environment, cloud computing, terminal operations and RemoteApp connections.
06/2020 to 11/2023I founded Overland Technical Solutions in 2021, so that I could help some of the local small businesses that had reached out through acquaintences to ask for help with security projects. I am learning more and more, working in HTML/CSS/Javascript, building small applications in Python, C#, VB.NET, Node, and any other platforms/technologies that suit a given need. I will be adding applets to this website as I am able to do so, with the hopes of someday becoming a Software Developer professionally.
2021++I was promoted to Team Lead in November 2023, where I began to manage the day-to-day operations of a team of application support specialists. This included scheduling, payroll approval, intra-team and intra-divisional KPI and trend analysis, Performance Reviews, escalations management, interviewing, hiring, onboarding and training, and a plethora of lesser managerial activities. I attended a training seminar to learn DISC communication methods, ADKAR change management processes, and actionable interviewing skills, and oversaw a global average of 13% increase across the different KPI trends of my direct reports. In September 2024, my responsibilities were adjusted as our support structure moved to an Agile Swarming methodology, and I became a Swarm Lead instead, directing the 'Spruce High Value Accounts' Swarm Pod as a team liaison and Subject Matter Expert, and passing the managerial aspects of the position to the new management team.
