Foro de Periodismo Argentino
I served as a multimedia intern with el Foro de Periodismo Argentino (FOPEA) for three months while studying abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I assisted with many things, but my biggest achievement was to digitize an annual report FOPEA publishes describing climate of journalistic freedom in Argentina.
Working thousands of miles away from the technological resources available at the University of Missouri, I found and taught myself how to use a variety of free software programs to meet the needs of website creation. I also used taught myself to use a variety of emerging Google products (Fusion Tables) to visualize data describing the number of attacks against journalists. The report received press coverage throughout Argentina as well as in Spain.
I also edited and published online a variety of multimedia from FOPEA’s conferences.
