03:38.562 --> 03:50.804 [SPEAKER_02]: Because as I learn and walk in the way that Jesus walk and show people the way to life with Jesus, what I start to realize is that the kingdom values are upside down compared to the world's values. 03:51.786 --> 03:57.998 [SPEAKER_02]: And then I have a value based tug of war at my soul, which side is going in. 03:58.018 --> 04:02.005 [SPEAKER_02]: And the truth is Christians for all ages have dealt with this same tension. 04:02.592 --> 04:07.991 [SPEAKER_02]: We're not the first in the 21st century to deal with the tension between my dual citizenship. 04:08.392 --> 04:13.530 [SPEAKER_02]: My heavenly bound citizenship with my earth bound citizenship. 04:14.168 --> 04:16.792 [SPEAKER_02]: that are in conflict against each other. 04:17.633 --> 04:37.223 [SPEAKER_02]: The Bible is full of believers who lived in real countries that had real political situations, but who in that environment wanted to live above the frame as it were, and to live out the ideals that were on our guard and on our their covenant with God. 04:37.203 --> 04:46.314 [SPEAKER_02]: And so that internal conflict doesn't just challenge us as individual believers, it also challenges our ability to be in community with other believers. 04:47.856 --> 05:04.257 [SPEAKER_02]: If the last eight to 12 years have taught us nothing, it has revealed that people who would have otherwise both called themselves Christian now look at each other suspiciously because you said on the opposite side of the outing me. 05:05.249 --> 05:10.937 [SPEAKER_02]: And we start to question how you could even be saved and sit on the other side. 05:14.503 --> 05:15.344 [SPEAKER_02]: Am I telling the truth? 05:16.746 --> 05:18.889 [SPEAKER_02]: So it's not just an internal conflict with believers. 05:18.909 --> 05:22.755 [SPEAKER_02]: There's communal conflict within congregations. 05:23.436 --> 05:25.359 [SPEAKER_02]: There's communal conflict within the kingdom. 05:25.759 --> 05:29.265 [SPEAKER_02]: One church stands for this political party, another church stands for this one. 05:29.665 --> 05:32.910 [SPEAKER_02]: And two churches who call on the name of Jesus, 05:33.582 --> 05:37.547 [SPEAKER_02]: still subdivided along a long party lines. 05:38.388 --> 05:41.051 [SPEAKER_02]: The conflict is not something that the Holy Spirit is afraid of. 05:41.091 --> 05:55.068 [SPEAKER_02]: Holy Spirit won't all the smoke, because what conflict gives the Holy Spirit a chance to do is to end the wake of that conflict, bring about something great and beautiful through the kingdom. 05:55.429 --> 05:56.670 [SPEAKER_02]: For example, in the Book of Acts, 05:56.954 --> 06:11.550 [SPEAKER_02]: It was persecution politically primarily that pushed the church out on Jerusalem and ultimately gave the Holy Spirit the opportunity in the midst of that persecution to replicate the church to the ends of the earth. 06:12.431 --> 06:23.704 [SPEAKER_02]: So we shouldn't be afraid that the church won't survive but we should be sober about the fact that we live in a crucial moment where how we handled it could influence what happens to another believer. 06:24.848 --> 06:31.432 [SPEAKER_02]: So, the Holy Spirit is not scared of the smoke, and as Christians, we shouldn't be scared of a conflict that conflict should make us have a conversation. 06:31.452 --> 06:32.817 [SPEAKER_02]: Let the church say conversation. 06:33.809 --> 06:34.750 [SPEAKER_02]: And so, that's what we're doing. 06:34.790 --> 06:45.863 [SPEAKER_02]: We're having a conversation in the semblitude of church leaders of yesterday year, who because of theological and political conflict, we have these church councils. 06:46.384 --> 06:57.437 [SPEAKER_02]: And there are seven church councils that help to shape the beliefs of the church throughout the centuries on where the church stood as a result of certain disagreements or conflicts. 06:57.417 --> 07:00.182 [SPEAKER_02]: within the church with them belief systems or even politically. 07:00.763 --> 07:12.343 [SPEAKER_02]: And so here at the way community church, we've adopted that same mechanism of having a council to have a conversation about cultural issues that could cause conflict. 07:12.723 --> 07:13.364 [SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to say it again. 07:13.425 --> 07:20.657 [SPEAKER_02]: Here at the way, we've adopted that same approach to creating a council. 07:20.637 --> 07:25.946 [SPEAKER_02]: to have a conversation about cultural issues that could cause conflict. 07:26.326 --> 07:38.226 [SPEAKER_02]: So for the last two years, eight of us have been approved by Board of Directors to come aside and have crucial conversations around six cultural issues and politics is one of those issues. 07:38.707 --> 07:42.874 [SPEAKER_02]: And so here again are the demographics of the committee to help to shape my message today. 07:43.455 --> 07:45.278 [SPEAKER_02]: It was made up of eight people. 07:45.578 --> 07:48.342 [SPEAKER_02]: four male, four female, of the eight people. 07:48.683 --> 07:55.994 [SPEAKER_02]: We had at least one person in their 20s, two in their 30s, one in their 40s, two in their 50s, one in their 60s, one in their 70s. 07:56.274 --> 07:57.856 [SPEAKER_02]: Which means it was intergenerational. 07:57.936 --> 07:59.198 [SPEAKER_02]: It was intergender. 08:00.300 --> 08:10.455 [SPEAKER_02]: Then we had three of the eight with posts, grass, seminary degrees, and all eight were Tito of CC Gangang for real, certified wayfines. 08:11.667 --> 08:17.428 [SPEAKER_02]: And the aid of us came together to say language around where do we stand on certain issues. 08:17.730 --> 08:23.230 [SPEAKER_02]: And so I started a few weeks ago having a conversation about where do we stand on gifts of the spirit?
