gospel. 12:22.112 --> 12:34.656 [SPEAKER_01]: And in our passage, this morning Jesus pulls back the curtain and reveals to his hearers the unity in the Godhead in the salvation of God's people. 12:35.976 --> 12:46.279 [SPEAKER_01]: Jesus is speaking to his Heavenly Father, but notice and think with me practically for a second, he speaks out loud in front of his eleven disciples. 12:47.540 [SPEAKER_01]: But instead, he speaks out loud in front of them and then ordains that it be written for our benefit in Scripture by the power of the Holy Spirit. 13:07.139 --> 13:08.660 [SPEAKER_01]: we have been swept up into, Jesus lists five means for his own glory. 14:06.105 --> 14:08.846 [SPEAKER_01]: Five means for Jesus's glory. 14:09.766 --> 14:13.567 [SPEAKER_01]: A means is like a channel or conduit. 14:14.627 --> 14:17.528 [SPEAKER_01]: It's the way in which something is going to come to Jesus. 14:19.789 --> 14:25.030 [SPEAKER_01]: How glory is going to be directed at Jesus. 14:25.050 --> 14:26.711 [SPEAKER_01]: That's what we're going to be looking at this morning. 14:27.671 --> 14:35.193 [SPEAKER_01]: Five means for Jesus's glory, which we'll see the Father has given see in verse two that the Father has given the Son authority to give eternal life 15:05.057 --> 15:09.898 [SPEAKER_01]: The concept of eternal life was already known in Jesus' day. 15:09.998 --> 15:17.581 [SPEAKER_01]: So much so that people came to Jesus asking what must I do to inherit eternal life? 15:18.901 --> 15:22.842 [SPEAKER_01]: Now they weren't asking him to give them eternal life. 15:22.882 --> 15:29.584 [SPEAKER_01]: They were asking him simply as a rabbi or as a teacher about his opinion on the Old Testament writings. 15:32.365 --> 15:32.845 [SPEAKER_01]: But here, 15:34.679 --> 15:35.579 [SPEAKER_01]: in our passage. 15:36.840 --> 15:46.382 [SPEAKER_01]: We see that Jesus says out loud that God has given the Son authority over all flesh to give eternal life. 15:47.443 there are passages where that is the emphasis of the passage. 16:13.573 --> 16:23.280 [SPEAKER_01]: The fact that death is behind us, there is no more death, they will, this life will not end, that is the emphasis of some passages that use this phrase eternal life. 16:26.209 --> 16:33.033 [SPEAKER_01]: but never ending life or everlasting life doesn't actually capture the beauty of this phrase. it means that we have received life with God. 17:58.485 --> 18:09.491 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, it never ends, but the main factor is that it's life and peace with the eternal God who never had a beginning, day, you are experiencing, if you're a Christian, you are experiencing now eternal life because you have begun to walk with God and your inner being and is now changing the way you live your bodily God through Jesus Christ is how you enter into eternal life. 19:31.274 --> 19:40.635 [SPEAKER_01]: It is how you are kept secure in this life and it will be your delight in the life to come. 19:41.636
