Speaker Bios

Jessica Brown
Jessica Brown is an Engineering Project Manager with the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute and Georgia Manufacturing Extension Partnership (GaMEP). Her time has been devoted to working with KEMA (an organization who routinely does measurement and verification for utility incentive programs) in the development of the DOE's Superior Energy Performance (SEP) Measurement and Verification Protocol for Industry. She not only helped develop the program and protocol, but has also worked with manufacturers implementing the program. The measurement and verification tools and methodology she discusses can be used to determine performance at any level within an organization. Jessica is an RABQSA-Certified ISO 50001 Auditor, a Certified Practitioner in Energy Management, and a Six Sigma Black Belt. She earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Tech and holds an M.B.A. from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga.

Richard D. Feustel
Richard has worked in the energy field for more than 20 years as an engineer, trainer, and manager. He initiated, developed and led the energy departments for Mercury Marine and currently for Briggs & Stratton. He is the driving force for waste reduction saving more $1M for each company in the first year and each subsequent year. He quickly grabbed the “lowing hanging fruit” at each of these companies relighting more than 20 facilities, upgrading their compressed air and HVAC systems. He continues to drive efficiency in aluminum melting, manufacturing process improvements, and energy procurement. Richard is a US Navy veteran with 23 years of dedicated service as a nuclear submarine officer and is certified by the Department of Energy as a nuclear engineer. Richard holds a Masters degree in Operations Research, and a Bachelors in Nuclear Engineering and another in Aviation Management.
