IMPORTANT NOTE: Before proceeding with this firmware update, please verify that your computer has the telnet client enabled. This is enabled by default in Windows XP and Mac OS X. For Windows Vista/7/8/8.1, please see the steps below. If you are using a different operating system, please refer to that operating system's built-in help or documentation for information on using or enabling the telnet client.
- Windows Vista and 7 users:
- From the Start menu, select Control Panel, and then select Programs and Features.
- In the left column, select Turn Windows features on or off.
- In the Windows Features pop-up window, select the check box next to Telnet Client, and then click OK.
- Windows 8 and 8.1 users:
- Right-click in the bottom-left corner of the screen (a Start or Desktop icon will appear), and then select Programs and Features.
- In the left column, select Turn Windows features on or off.
- In the Windows Features pop-up window, select the check box next to Telnet Client, and then click OK.
