This
is chick #603 on May 13, 2006. She hatched on May 7. Her sister
is #602.
This little chick was very smart and lively. But her legs
began to cause problems. Her health took a turn for the
worse.
She died
on June
21,
2006
at
Patuxent WRC where she and her sister were very special hatches.
They were the FIRST two chicks hatched from eggs laid by parents
in the new Eastern flock! Their parents left the eggs in the
nest, so experts took the eggs in hopes of hatching them. The
parents needed a little more experience to know that they must
always stay with their eggs to keep them safe and warm. Everyone
was very happy to see the eggs saved and the new chicks hatched!
