Congratulations
to Operation
Migration, honored May 7, 2009 in Washington DC as one
of the National winners for the 2009 Partners in Conservation
Award!
This
is the highest civilian partnership award given by the United
States Department of the Interior (DOI). It is a thrilling
honor indeed!
The ceremony, complete with color guard, took place before
several hundred people (including Journey North's Jane Duden). In his comments,
Secretary Ken Salazar asked the audience if they could imagine a world without
a single living Whooping crane. He gave a stirring tribute to the men and women
of Operation Migration for their outstanding work in establishing the new Eastern
flock of this endangered species. Journey North is honored to help tell the
story in this, the ninth year of bringing back
Whooping
cranes to the eastern U.S.
Hooray!
Hats off to Operation Migration! |
