We have been talking with Newcastle Marine just south of here in Palm Coast to be the builder. Both yards are experienced in aluminum construction. They have just completed the first of some aluminum barges that will be used for houseboats. They have built some of my steel and aluminum motoryachts and so are well experienced in aluminum construction.

The first and most important thing to keep in mind is cost and budget. Establish a realistic budget for the design and construction, make sure you oversee the construction regularly, either by yourself or with a hired consultant whom you trust. The primary reasons that boat projects fail is because of unrealistic expectations about cost and poor construction management.
