My students love experiencing new things and they truly understand their literary education is key to understanding the world and themselves. We are a small school in a town with little job opportunity or advancement. We experience the world at large through literature. They love Good Books Dont Give Up All Their Secrets At Once Program to learn about other people, places, and times through reading. It can be hard to get students, especially seniors, to focus and stick with one thing for longer than a class period, but I love that my students encourage me to continue with our important work through reading.
After school was cancelled, in March, multiple students contacted me to say, thank you, for exposing them to the book we were reading in class "The Hate U Give", by Angie Thomas. Which we had access to because it was a donor's choose project product fulfilled for our classroom.
My students love when we switch things up! I want to use the Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards to introduce new information, activities, and learning opportunities, outside of our textbooks. These digital resources will also enhance student learning outside of the classroom, extending their learning ever further.

My juniors will read "The Great Gatsby" this year and I'm excited to see a novel I read as a high school student be seen in a new light and new ways through my students.
